Competitor site abusing content?

Duplicating content over many domains

There is a website which is a competitor of my site doing the same online service. Having done research I have found they have copied their main domains content (1000+ pages) to over 20 other domains which target keywords using domains eg www.keyword-Keyword.com, www.keyword2-keyword2.com etc. They have even begun international domains .co.uk, .de etc From this they are ranking extremely high in google for all keywords in the industry I work in. The site is also in 5 different languages. You can imagine with these multiples how much content we are taking about over all these domains.

This is SEO to the max, but totally unfair and of course spamming. I want to know why google hasnt picked this up? What actions do you think should be taken? Should I do the same (and get rid of my green eye monster! haha)?

If their empire is as you say, then sooner or later, they will suffer (if they are not already. While they may still be 'findable' in Google (you were looking specifically), that does not mean they'd not be doing much better by avoiding the spam and duplicate issues.

Either way, by going down the same route, you'd be taking the same risks - and may suffer much more than they are.

Your choice ;)

As you can see from this post and my others Q I am going through a process of updating all my content and looking at what others are doing, what is working and what isn´t. What I am finding is that supposedly forbidden techniques are working well for some companies.

Content for SEO should be done properly and I´m looking at doing it the correct way as well as how to produce large amounts of content without spamming or duplicating (too much).

Would for example changing "The brown bus when up the mountain" to "The blue bus went up the mountain" by just changing the colour be duplicating and therefore be picked up by the Search engines? Because I have many "Colours" that can be used...

Please any advice on how to duplicate without actually being seen as duplicating by the spiders?

follow them, just be smarter and use some content generators to index your content on which you will place links.
i see a network of secondary sites linking to the main one is the best way one can get their main site to the top these days.

I´m following them like a stalker!

So idolw, do you think that a main domain of say .com and then having multiple domains such as .es .co.uk .us .ie (as micro sites with similar cut down content) and linking them all back to this "Mother" .com site is a good way of getting the .com domain to the top?

do whatever you want. no need to have .co.uk, .de, etc. just have a network of sites - buy content from teenage writers or generate automatically, make sure you have bought whois hiding service from your registrar, get them all indexed on multiple IPs, and place links to main site on them.
this is not rocket science. instead of paying other people for links become an owner of a number of link whores
