Client's Product was Used in Blockbuster Movie

Can I show a clip from the movie on our site?

Hi,

A client of mine just let me know his product was used in a pretty huge movie from 3-4 years back. There is about a 1-2 minute seen that shows his product being used.

What kind of permission would I need to get to use this clip on our site for something like "As seen in..."? What if I used photos instead of video...would this be easier?

Thanks!

I wouldn't stick my neck in there anywhere as this would be an issue between the client and the producer/copyright holder of the movie.

Contact the distributor/studio and seek permission.

A single STILL from the production which showcases the product AND an ARTICLE (in the USA) falls under FAIR USE (do research on FAIR USE). Running a video clip probably is not a good idea WITHOUT permission from the copyright holders.

Your CLIENT on the other hand, can crow all day long about their product being seen in the film, write articles about it all day long, and not a worry.
