Is this OK?

I have a travel website that refers often and crucially to certain transport schedules. This mode of transport is run by one company that is largely state-supported. Although their schedules are on their website they are in fact rather difficult to find (much less understand) As a service to my visitors, I'd like to link directly to their schedules which are in pdf form on their website. This is not a matter of stealing traffic as this company has a totally non-monetized website and this mode of transport cannot be booked on their website, or on mine. It's purely a matter of satisfying my visitors.

Is there a problem here?

Thanks

Why don't you ask the company?

I doubt if I could get a straight answer or any answer out of them. This is an old-time, non-profit making, governmental, beaurocratic, behemoth.

Well, I don't see anything wrong with such a link. Go ahead and do it, and tell them you are doing it. If they object, they can let you know.

You might also check and see what your competition does.

That's a good idea. thanks! No, my competition doesn't do it. It's one thing their fertile minds haven't come up with.

I wouldn't ask, and would just do the links. (Letting the user know that the link is to a PDF.)

that is largely state-supported

If this information is freely and publicly available, can you just 'reverse engineer' a user friendly presentation to post on your own site; making it available directly? Does the information change, or will it sit static for eons?
