I am setting up a positive web site to promote business etc.

Is it OK for me to post links to other companies website's on my website
?

Seriously, most people are delighted when other websites link to theirs and you don't have to ask for permission or anything like that.

As long as you link to quality sites, all should be OK. Just watch out for linking to any sites using questionable tactics like using hidden text and links...

Of course, you can link to other websites. in fact, you will inadvertently end up strengthening their link building programmes. however, stay away from link farms and blacklisted websites. they can get you into trouble, esp when it comes to search engine indexing.
