Stealing Content From The Way Back Machine

I'm sure you all know about the Web Archive Way Back Machine that archives old webpages. Do you think people out there steal things from old pages?

I mean it can't be duplicate content from an seo standpoint if the pages no longer exist?

Dunno why I brought this up, it just popped in to my head.

Just because a book is no longer in print doesn't mean the copyright expired.

Personally, I don't like them and block their robot. I have some sites where I display a lot of corporate logos (it's a directory) and while I have permission to do so, Way Back does not. Besides, I don't like them pulling images off my server and affecting bandwidth usage.

I can do that myself, thank you very much.

The Wayback Machine is hardly saving things for posterity. A lot of the stuff you find can be a jumbled mess: missing images and other data, etc. Not how I would want my web sites remembered.

Until a few minutes ago I had no idea that the Way Back Machine even existed. Well after a quick Google search I found it and checking out my website certainly was a flashback from the past. I had forgotten how ugly my website was back in 1999!
