Book online sales success?

Sales page advice specifically for books?

I'm a web developer/marketer doing a sales site for a physical (not eBook) new golf book. So far, sales conversions are quite low, from Google AdWords.

Wondering if any of you have advice specifically for book sales. I understand the basics of AdWords and selling through the use of landing pages - but what might be special about book sales?

I tried the amazon affiliate program with little success. I think people go straight to the big players if they want to buy books - or a website specifically dedicated to book reviews.

I have sold books but typically conversion rates are very low. Something like 1% . Unless you have a very hot product and very targetted buyers maybe..

post a video with some comments or criticism on the book, amazon and e-bay are good options to think about, and don't forget to put a press release out. This will get your sales a good kick start.
