Yet another duplicate content question!

I have recently spent a considerable amount of money in getting a lot of unique original content developed for my site.

I would like to make that content available for re-use with a creative commons license. This would be to attract links, attract publicity and to offer a useful service.

I am concerned that if lots of people then re-published my content on other sites then I will be hit with a duplicate content filter on my pages in search engines.

Will I be hit with the filter even though I will be the first to have this content on my site?

Sorry, I didn't look hard enough, I see [webmasterworld.com...] talks about this too. But there doesn't seem to be any consensus of opinion.
