©2007 by (Name of company / individual). All rights reserved.

Hi, I've asked about a month back regarding writing copyright notice. As far as I know the name has to be either a company name. If I don't own a company, then the copyright in my own name.

But I am not comfortable with publicly displaying my name. Assuming my name is Alan Brad Castle, can I write "©2007 by A.B. Castle. All rights reserved."?

How about using my domain name instead like "©2007 by Widget.com. All rights reserved." assuming I don't have a company called Widget.com. Will the copyright notice be effective in this case? Will the owner of the domain maintain the copyright to the content in the legal point of view?

I prefer using the domain name, because if the visitors do print out my pages, at least there's some association back to my domain.

As I understand copyright law (purely from experience and without any legal training), putting © symbol is neither here not there.

If the published content is yours, then you hold the copyright, full stop/period. All the © does is to put up the equivalent of a no tresspassing sign.

That's right to my knowledge, if you are the author, you hold the intellectual property.

To emphasise that all material is copyrighted, you can state that without giving your name on the website.

My statement:

All contents are copyright (c) 2006-2007 as part of example.com unless indicated differently. Reproduction of any part or whole of the content of this website in any form by mechanical or electronic means, including information retrieval is prohibited except by consent of the publisher.

How do you proof that you hold the copyright?
You say that as long as you are the author, you hold the copyright.

Lets say i put up this content today. 1 week later, a scraper site copies my content. How do I proof to the scraper's host that I hold the copyright so they will take down the content?
