Most of the content on this website is almost outdated, hardly been viewed in last 6 months or more, I am planning to remove/delete this entire content.
Is this is a good idea or bad?
How should i got about deletion of content to get room for new content?
*My server is being resource hungry and I have a limited budget for this website.
Thank You.
First concentrate on removing duplicate URLs, using robots.txt, to focus links and users and Google on useful and relevant URLs. You could also save resources by banning unwanted spiders
Then check the site's navigation - be sure that the lack of visitors is not an internal problem, also that you are not forcing spiders to waste their time (and your resources) going around in circles.
then check on code bloat, and duplicate content (?merge single-para pages, rather than remove them all).
Then prioritize the ones to keep and the ones to go.
All that is worth doing for its own sake, as well as for your current issue - but the key item for you is to shop around - are you getting the best value for money hosting for your site? Moving may allow you expand, rather than waste time deleting copy to insert new (which may be no more popular!). And the more the merrier!
That's a fairly specific interpretation of a very vague comment. Had a bad Christmas? ;)
For the sake of absolute clarity, of course I'd not suggest posting rubbish, scraping other's sites, adding pointless and space-wasting forum posts or anything else other than content that is right for your site and of value to your visitors.
Having made that point, the more [content that is right for your site and of value to your visitors], the merrier. :)
