I posted this question in the RSS forum but no one answered, thing is I suppose the question does apply to other content articles, reviews etc so wondered what you think in here.

QUESTION:
I am thinking about adding RSS (news mainly) feeds to a site. Would it be better to add popular news from the big boys in media and use their name is a authority to try and make my site look more of a authority or to use little known, little publicised feeds that probably not many people will have and therefore cause more of a 'oh whats that story?' and almost a reaction of 'well ill have to remember that site, they had good links to stories ive never seen before and are just my cup of tea.'

Is it just a case of mainstream or niche?

thanks

Does it have to be either/or? Could you not combine the two somehow and have a section for the more popular news feeds and another section for the lesser known feeds?

I would go with the obscur content.
popular content you see anywhere...
Decision is yours...
