I have done a search for this already but have not managed to find any answers.

A rival website is currently posting defamatory pictures of people I know and comments about me personally. They are also hosting copyrighted material, that s material which I am the rightful copyright holder of.

I have contacted the hosting company where the site is hosted – it is in the US – chatted with a customer service rep online, put a complaint into the technician as was instructed and even emailed the CEO – and have had no response whatsoever.

The damage being caused by the libelous comments is significant and with every passing minute that the site fails to remove the material, the damage gets worse and worse.

My question is this: What are the options available to me to get them to do something about it? I have already outlined the situation in great detail but they have not only failed to do anything about it, with the exception of the CSR, have even failed to respond!

Any suggestions?

1) Consult with an attorney.

2) After consulting with an attorney, submit DMCA copyright violation complaints to all search engines and hosting companies involved, following their procedures exactly and completely.

3) See step 1.

First seperate the two issues. Follow the advice above on the copyrighted material.

On the slander - these things don't often happen without at least a bit of incitement or fanning of flames on the other side. I suspect there's some backstory or "history" that isn't being told here.

Look within and consider what you might do to cool things down. Don't be so concerned with being right. How can you de-escalate it?

It's very difficult and very expensive to prosecute libel or slander.

libel=written. slander=spoken.
