Hi

Creating a new site to run alongside an existing one. I want to remove copy from the orginal and place it on the new site. Although the copy will be removed from the first site, could there be a chance that google will think of this as duplicate content? I am concerned because the pages are all cached by google and although i am deleting them from one site, google may not recgonise this straight away and will instead consider the new site pages and the old cached pages as duplicate content.

Does this make any sense?

Create a 301 permanent rdirect from the old folders to the new.

If you intend to keep both sites, you'll need to keep monitoring your content to avoid future issues, but if you've moved one topic in a 'chunk' you'll be OK, so long as the sites develop their own navigation and other previously 'shared' stuff.
