Preventing data theft

I'm putting together a website that will allow a user to search, based on various criteria, on a database that will contain over 3,000 records.

Pulling the information together will be a time consuming process on my end.

How can I prevent someone else from using my site to "steal" the data I have painstakingly (sp?) compiled?

At the very least you should copyright your compilation. Facts can not be copyrighted, but a unique presentation of them can be.
