Good article. Have been playing with radio.userland, pretty interesting - I think we will see a lot more of this in the next year.

yes, great article. He didnt mention Nuke, Postnuke and many other clones - PHP based or Perl based CMS's that are free (Open source) and have are gaining popularity fast on the Web - at least among the young'uns and reasonably computer savvy - business uses will follow.

Free systems are not just for the cash strapped. They can also be easily customised and hacked to make it just like you want with limited knowledge of Perl, PHP etc - no proprietary problems. And the problems for CEO of using a database driven site can be minimized with some custom coding.

My view is that the rdiculous prices being charged for CMS systems will fall dramatically. I honestly cant see much difference in functionality, and much more flexibility using the new open source portal software mentioned above.

he got it right.. but missed out on the exciting developments in the Open Source area. He left out MovableType as a blogging system - we evaluated that as the best of the lot for easy customization, hack coding, simplicity etc.
