First time poster here. I've got a music site that targets a particular region of Canada, and would like to add a news section. The way it is set up now, is a simple RSS feed from a larger music site. It displays the headlines on my main page, and the links take the user to the larger page.
I would like to find a way to have my own news section in order to keep my visitors on my site rather than exiting to this larger site. Is there a way to do this via RSS? What are my other options?
Any ideas are appreciated!
Thanks,
Bates
Just look for press releases with fact and orginize the facts in your own words and you are good to go. It is more work yes but this way YOU are providing your audience with the news rather then getting someone else to provide it for you.
This way the news can be peppered with you opinion that your readers may find better then from an external source who may not share your thoughts on certain things in the industry. I mean they are on your site and must like your way of doing things, give them more.

You want to find out how to get hold of news stories, or how best to distribute it? On the basis of the former...
Find out where these larger sites get their news from. Think. Get yourself added to the mailing lists (press or otherwise, national and regional) of any and all relevant sources, for example:
* Record labels
* Artists own websites
* Radio stations
* Music venues
* Music stores
* Official/authoritative fan sites.
All these channels have will have news stories on a regular basis that they'll need to get to their public/target audience.
Undoubtedly you'll know your sectors well and I'm sure that with even a little creative thinking you could easily double this list. Contact people and sources directly, let them know you exist and can help them promote their interests via your news section/feed....
