Not quite sure if this is going in the correct section.

I have built an eCards site, but need more content (i.e. eCards).

Does anyone know where I can get FREE eCard content, e.g. the source files, flash SWFs, GIFs, JPGs etc...

I would rather not use a third party like Bravenet as this is a site I've built myself.

Make your own, and then you've got content that no one else does?

If I was a web designer and had more time, I would.

I'm a developer, I'd rather spend my time being more productive doing backend stuff.

Thanks for the reply, I hadn't thought of that one!

More seriously, I wonder if you could set up a system to gather contributed content?

"Post your favorite image to our site*, and maybe it too can become an eCard!"

"*and agree to a contract granting us certain rights"

I received something like that the other day in an email. They were promising exposure on their free site and the chance to attract potential clients. Let me tell you, making ecards takes some time. There's no way I'm gonna make an e-card without payment and post it at somebody's site in hope of getting "exposure."

People who hunt for ecards, are like Google Image hunters. They are not in a mood to buy, just get something for free. Only a small percentage of folks will pay for something they truly like, and then, you can't charge more than $9.99.

I say make your own cards, unless you can attract the ever elusive teenage ecard creator on your site. But forget about the pros.
