Anyone have a contract or document that you have your writer sign so that you can be sure your work is copyrighted by your company/site?

You may find the Creators Copyright Coalition [creatorscopyright.ca] useful. Among other resources, they offer downloadable template 'contracts'. I will not guarantee that you'll find exactly what you're looking for, only that it may be useful. (Indeed, as the name suggests, the site is designed to provide resources and advice to the creators of works...)

I did not really see what I was looking for on that site. I am looking to put together a contract for a writer just to make sure they do not write copy and give it to another site and that they know I will own the copyright for all writings they send me.

I have downloaded a Agreement for Professional Services contract before. It seems they raised their prices. You just open it in Word and fill in the blanks.

I found a site where I purchased some forms online but it sent me to an .exe link. I have not opened the link yet but ran a virus check on it and nothing came up. I wonder if anyone else has bought a bundle of contracts with an .exe file?

An exe can do anything if you execute it. No virus scanner can safely say an exe file is safe to execute. It may just be a executable zip file that will extract some Word doc file. It may also wipe your data as soon as you run it. Be careful and back anything up of value before you execute it.

I paid and downloaded the form you linked to at Allbusiness but it was not what I am needing. Also, I am scared to open up that exe file from the other form place.. LOL. So I may just kind of make up my own form.

If anyone has worked with any company that sent out a form or contract for a writer to sign first that would be something I could go from.

I did not really see what I was looking for on that site.

...because stupidly I posted up the wrong link - apologies!

Go to: Creators' Right's Alliance [londonfreelance.org]. Here you can download a Confirmation of Commission form. This is possibly of more use to you?

Thanks for getting back to me on this but I am based in the US. Do you know of a form to use for US Writers?
