Hello everyone.

Yesterday it came to my attention that our content was being used on another site. After futher research we found that the same content was on over 50 different sites and counting.

I know we will have some legal guys to help and send out the Cease and Desist's, but from an SEO standpoint I'm sure this is really killing our rankings, which no one was currently tracking until now.

I've tried to find other posts similar to this but only ran into posts dealing with one or two main perpatrators... not a whole army of them.

Are we doomed to rewrite our orignal content or is there a way to get these copycats booted off.

Thanks.

This thread should help:

[webmasterworld.com...]

DMCA complaints to ISPs and Google seem to be very effective. Since it's the same content, I would think that you could develop a boilerplate complaint that you could send out with minor modifications.

Well, you can threaten them with a cease and desist order, which will hopefully scare them; however, if they are sites outside of the U.S. then you may have a problem with trying to use any legal means.

You can always try to report the sites to Google and see if you get any results, but the quickest way would be to redo the content. Recently we had to change the testimonials on our site, because they had been copied many times over.

Addendum: Or what hunderdown said...lol.
