The country of origin stats are interesting. It proves the value of Spansh content for geotargeting.

Didn't realize so much was published in '.com' even though it's spanish - not english. :)

Hmm... I wonder about the accuracy though. Telefonica/Terra Lycos is an equivalent of AOL in Latin America. Still, an interesting article, especially how 35% of Spanish content is under .com.

I have my reservations about the accuracy, though.

Same here ;), same with the phone bill I receive each month from them as well, but stats like these are rare so I guess we have to take what we can get.

Actually the .com stats aren't surprising at all. Almost all well-known sites, at least down here, are .com's.

If you have a site in Chile and want target other countries in LatAm as well, it is a much better option to go with .com.

I wonder how they factored in content on free sites like Geocities and Freeservers.

Looks about right all in all, from the little I know.
Any idea where they got that stats from? First idea would be to get that info from an indexing engine...
Fast would be an obvious explanation, but their db is definitely not taht large.
