hi there,

im just building a site for a friend of mine and havent really dabled in updateable content before so im really not sure which avenue to go down right now and effectively i really dont know what i need to perform the following functions:

news feed
photo gallery
events gallery

all needs to be updateable through an admin panel.

the main problem im having is finding a system which will allow me to work with my own custom website design. i want to be able to give the system dedicated areas for it to publish the updated content.

what do i do?

Almost any CMS can be customized to your own design, you just have to have the time and patience to understand the complexities of whatever CMS you choose, and figure out how to integrate your design.

Dragonfly has those requirements built-in, but it needs a fair amount of technical knowledge to install it. I had to get my ISP's help getting it up and running, and the code is NOT commented very well or at all, the wiki is useless, and the variables do not always have obvious names. Also, it has a LOT of files and things are placed somewhat inconsistently in the directories. You may have one icon saved one folder, and another icon in the same module placed in another folder. Annoying. It also has a large number of itty-bitty icons that total up to a fairly large use of bandwidth on a busy site.

Skinning it was an exercise in experimentation ... change something in the .css file and see what happens.

On the plus side, it's very secure and seems quite stable now that it's running right. And none of the problems are insurmountable, it just takes time and patience to edit it.
