Copied Pages

Pages copied from my blog

Checking my blog for backlinks and came across a site which has copied at least eight of my pages (I suspect that there may be many more), not just a paragraph but all the marked-up content, hotlinked images and even my unique Technorati tags. The copied pages don't appear in G's SERPs and the site in question doesn't get more than 50 unique visitors a day, so maybe they have already been penalised?

I found the copied pages because of my blog name in Technorati tags, seems like they copied the code without editing out any links. Would it be a good idea to hide a link deep within the content, say as a period(.) so if this happens again I could easily trace it and maybe get a trackback? Also, how about using obscure unusual phrases within the copy which will be easily found through SERPs?

Hi,

You can surely undertake these and other technical measures. But why wouldn't you try to e-mail the site's owner or web host and warn 'em about breaking copyright rules?
Some people say that's of little help whereas I think that can be tried for a start.
