MediaWiki as a CMS

For a long time I have been using my own home-made CMS on my site.

I am now considering switching to MediaWiki as a CMS.

I installed it on my server in about 10 minutes and it seems very powerful.

Most importantly IMO, it has the same initial "skin" as wikipedia, which immediately gives a certain air of authority to the site.

Has anyone else made a switch to MediaWiki and what was your experience?

Apart from not being able to work out to remove the /index.php/ from every URL (the instructions are vague) and getting slightly strange URLs, it has worked well.

Also using characters other than alphanumber in a page title gives strange URLs as well - they work but don't look aesthetic.

Being able to close it down to only allow existing accounts to create pages is quite nice. So far no hacking has got in.
