Let users upload files

Hello

I am working on a site that lets users upload files. What can I do if they upload files that are infringing copyright? I don't want any problems but if they upload hundreds of items a day I won't be able to check them.

Where do I stand? Can I be sued?

Is there a way to scan all files for copyright?

1) In your TOS, specify that users may not upload anything for which they do not own the copyright. (It probably won't really discourage anyone, as most people don't read the TOS anyway, but it's step one to CYA.)
2) Also specify that you are not responsible for any content uploaded by users, but that you will remove any content found to be in violation of the TOS.
3) In the same paragraph, provide a link to an e-mail address or contact form that people can use to notify you of copyright violations.
4) Make it easy to remove any images about which you get a complaint.
5) Promptly respond to any complaints that you receive by removing the content and responding to the complainer about the action you have taken.
