real value of ezine / opt-in

Increase in sales?

Hi everyone, I'm considering putting together an ezine for my website, however I wonder what the real benefits of this is and if infact there still is benefits with all the email spam thesedays and all.

Do people with medium to large lists see an increase in sales in the immediate days after sending out there latest content filled newsletter/ezine.

I imagine people that send out everyweek don't, but I was considering 1 say every 3 months, with very good content (not just taken from the nearest free content site) and then of course a reminder of my services...

It's a lot of work, but if it brings in sales, then its worth it right, but does it still bring in sales is the question.
