Hello Coburn: That's a good article, but I wouldn't say content is dead, far from it.

The article is about imaginative new ways for sites cooperate, not the death of content.
The author talks about combining content rather than eliminating it.

Why do people come to the WW forums? To participate of course, but the its still content ..
tips on how to do things, things NOT to do, how to deal with hot-linkers, scrapers ..

You can't participate without content...but context starts to take more of leading role...how your users interact with your site and how you provide the means for them to create some of your content (this, if done right, builds very specific content)

After reading the article, it sounds to me as if the question isn't content vs. participation but making it possible for site visitors to use your content in new ways.

Content is still king, it is whether you or your users are writing the content. As we know, 1000 casual users can genterate much more than 1 dedicated webmaster.
