My Competitor Copied My Site

Let me preface by saying this. A year or so ago, I had a site that ranked very well in the search engines. It was a very successful site, and then for some reason it dropped in rank.
Now my website doesn't get any traffic at all, and I was doing a little research on the number 1 site in my industry. I went to Alexa.com and did a little research on this site, and I came to find out that this guy had copied some of my content back in the day. To my knowlege, he doesn't have any of my content on his site anymore, but I was wondering what I could do to him if anything.
Thanks for the info!

If the infraction no longer exists, I don't see that there is anything you could do. I mean, you could try to prove that he'd copied a little of your stuff a year or two ago, but, even if you succeeded in that, would anybody take that seriously as an issue needing to be dealt with?

Sorry.

Eliz.

Hopefully this excellent post and the subsequent comments will prove useful - even if with hindsight.

I had this exact same problem.

Some one copied word for word much of the content of 1 of my sites. 1st and formost I sought to prove my claim of infringement. I used screen shots, raw access logs and google results

You have to remember the person can and will sue you for damages should you file a false claim. You must document everything you are saying

BEST way seems to email the host. When faced with changing hosts, they think twice.
