Okay, I am writing an article about an editorial which appeared in a local newspaper.

My site has to do with news for s specific niche industry.

May I print the text of the editorial within the article with quotations and if i provide the source of the editorial with a link?

Thanks.

If you copy the entire article, quotes or not, I'd say no, not without prior permission.

Citing the source is a must of course, scrapers won't even do that sometimes.

If you just give short snippets from the original editorial, you will be on much safer ground.

No... Not without prior permission as said LarryHatch.
Nonethless, I have read on this forum that you can take the title of the article without permission. To be confirmed.

So, to be on the safe ground, just the title, the source and the link.

"Fair use" allows brief quotes. I'd make sure they were brief, attribute the quotes and post a link to the original. You should be O.K., but if the source objects pull it down out of courtesy.

Thank you very much guys, especially for responding so soon.

I went with the brief quotes stategy, provided the source and a link.

I feel much better than doing it the way I had before.

Thanks again.
