Since there's a bidding war and obsession from Webmasters about contents and their Web sites, I'd like to kn ow what you think is contents.

Define the word contents.

I'll chime in later.

Many seem to be viewing "content" as "text that I can use to anchor AdSense campaigns and tweak page rankings". But, in my mind, "content" isn't just about making bots feel warm and fuzzy.

"Content" needs to be something that real people with real needs and real questions will find useful. It's not just any old keyword-based slop that will make the site look "new" when you add a page of it a day to your site. It's something that will answer questions, solve problems, or meet needs. "Content" isn't dreck that you hired a hack to write on a per-word basis; it's stuff that's interesting even to people outside your revenue stream.

But that's just my opinion....

Eliz.

Absolutely agree with you Eliz......
Isn't that what the www is for?
Hey, if you earn a few bob for your trouble, fine! But that will come if you have good content ;)

Content is what is on your site.

"Good, useful content" on the other hand is what helps you build a robust website that can withstand the changes in the SE algos, and attracts users to your site even without the SEs.

For example, there are many amazon affiliates out there that just run the description and reviews that are provided by amazon. While that is useful, it is not as useful as a review by you, on your site, on how that book relates to your site's visitors.

Good content gains natural links.

If your website is a bottle, then content is what it contains. The website can be wrapped in foil and decorated with a fancy lablel, but if what's in the bottle doesn't taste good or nourish the person who's drinking it, then they'll just put it down.

A late-night metaphor. I hope I like it as well in the morning.
