Hi. I have an old established site and a new site that is less than a year old.

I have noticed that a certain topic on the newer site is more popular and would like to change focus to that one thing.

And on the older site there is a very small section that would go well with the new site.

What I want to do is to switch 2 topic sections around and have each site just focus on one thing. That way I would strengthen each sites focus.

Do you think that moving the content would cause either site to get a penalty in the search engines?

Thanks!

Not exactly but while trying to get both of them to a better position, you can lose what you already have. I mean, combining forces doesn't work like that. Best way to go is to improve them seperately on what they are currently good at. Do this way.

Thanks!

I am going to try moving a few articles, the ones that need to be moved the most. And just leave the others for now.
