Software:
I'm after some good quality FREE software for converting pdf -> adobe secure ebooks or html -> adobe secure ebooks
No doubt purchased software can do amazing things, but considering there are so many good quality free converters into the pdf format, I'd imagine the same would apply to the secure ebook convertors as well.
I had a good read through the forums etc that you suggested, but I must admit I really didn't find answers to my questions. Either, they were trying to flog their commercial software, or else they were about the generic pdf format.
Adobe secure ebook format:
I refer here to the "across" platform ebooks that can be read by the adobe ebook reader. They have the feature of being able to lock down to one user only, and the owner can "lend" that ebook out to their friends, where the copy is transfered, but only 1 copy is ever active at a time. Let's face it, that's the setup which most ebook publishes need.
Query:
Does that require some communication of the ebook reader with some adobe (or otherwise) server, or is that security available directly within the reader and ebook?
