Adobe has released it's ebook reader, which from what I can gather, is pdf with security handles. However, for the life of me, I cannot find information on how to convert your content into this format, or how to convert a standard pdf.

Anyone know some details?

Greetings,

I as well have been in tune with Adobe's release. While exploring your same wonders I found some really good ebook software that you may interest you, as well as some resources for you below.

Software:
ebook Studio [peanutpress.com] - Great Software! I am all over this software.

Forum:
Open ebook <OeB> [openebook.org] This covers Adobe ebooks with PDF.

eBook Markup Language:
Click Here [peanutpress.com] Great for learning the coding and image rules

Hope I was some help for you... I am looking more into Adobe as well. Equally look forward to what you find out and please do share :)

Good day!

From what I can gather (from that website) ebook Studio is a palm specific version. What I'm after is an across platform (PC, Mac) format.

Software:
I'm after some good quality FREE software for converting pdf -> adobe secure ebooks or html -> adobe secure ebooks

No doubt purchased software can do amazing things, but considering there are so many good quality free converters into the pdf format, I'd imagine the same would apply to the secure ebook convertors as well.

I had a good read through the forums etc that you suggested, but I must admit I really didn't find answers to my questions. Either, they were trying to flog their commercial software, or else they were about the generic pdf format.

Adobe secure ebook format:
I refer here to the "across" platform ebooks that can be read by the adobe ebook reader. They have the feature of being able to lock down to one user only, and the owner can "lend" that ebook out to their friends, where the copy is transfered, but only 1 copy is ever active at a time. Let's face it, that's the setup which most ebook publishes need.

Query:
Does that require some communication of the ebook reader with some adobe (or otherwise) server, or is that security available directly within the reader and ebook?
