hello everyone. i would like to offer my english site in spanish. what is the best way to do this and have separate indexing in google and other top search engines. i'm refering to whether i should use an A record for one site or just link to a folder such as /spanish/index.html or of any other recomendations. thanks.

Hello Illustrate,

I was having your same problem earlier. Trying to make a single website two languages and I had a hard time with my keywords. Since some were in spanish and some were in english they weren't as specific, and the search engines want SPECIFIC and TARGETED content. So I decided to make 2 separate sites instead. One in English and one in Spanish. Now My english website ranks better than when I had mixed in the spanish. Plus I can use my other website to link to myself, and this way I can tell if englis or spanish speakers bought my product. This worked for me, but it depends on what service or product you offer, if its one or 2 things then an english and spanish site would probably work for you. If you have many more though, you might be better off with a seperate website. Hope that helps out ;)

thanks for the response. do you think? or does anyone know whether an A record to one of the site in the other language will allow a separate index in google?

i would really like to keep the original www.mysite.com and maybe just use [english.mysite.com...]

would google consider each one a different site in it's entirety or do you genuinely just recomend a completely new domain?
