Long time reader, first time poster!

I'm starting a movie/game review website with original content, and we're questioning where it's okay to take images.

Currently we're using DVD cover art from Amazon (we signed up for the affiliate program not necessarily for the additional income, but for the links) but we'd like to have some stills or pictures of the actors/actresses.

Should we ask each individual production company for materials? If so, to whom should we address our requests?

Any feedback you could provide would be greatly appreciated! We're just starting out and would like to stay on the up-and-up.

Thanks!

I have had to do a similar sort of thing, for my site although on a completly different subject matter. I normally make a phone call and ask to talk to someone in marketing or promotion, some companies have very strict guidelines as to how their copyrighted material should be displayed, however this isn't too much of a problem. Others just say 'yeh jsut download the images from out website'

Usually the obvious answer is the best...thanks!

So if we're reviewing a Paramount release, just give them a buzz and ask for a couple of images to use (and possibly make a contact in the process for providing future materials to review).

I'll give it a whirl, thanks again!

Don't forget that going about it like above is a great way to market your business/site as well.

Good plan, thanks.

Being a 'little fish', we're getting some positive responses from independent companies, but I'm chomping at the bit to approach the big boys.
