I have been reading about CMS's and must say as a noob it can be confusing. I write some of my own articles and also import articles from sources such as ezinearticles. I would like to have the capability of users submitting articles (Me approving before they go live) and stories. I find it quite tedious to add articles and publish them as it is now. Would a content management system be for me and what might be a good one to start with for someone with limited knowledge? Does a CMS create new pages or just add content to existing pages?
Thank you.

If you are planning on growing your site you would definitley need a CMS. I did an Online Magazine back in the days with just HTML, all the formatting and hideous linking took hours.

Now I use Mambo CMS on a daily basis and have more time over for actual writing and content development.

Most CMS put the articles in some kind of database, either it's a PHP based database or an ASP one. When a user clicks a link to some kind of content a page is generated. Hope it clarified some at least :)

If you're interested in publishing user-submitted articles, take a look at Druapl. I've had good luck with it and it's easily customized in terms of design.

Do some research on CMS at CMSmatrix.org. Will not do any harm.
