hi,
Since all of the articles and research that i have read refers to "Content as the king" then what would be an effective approach in organizing your content.Would it be by product? Or by geographic location?
I'm having this dillema as to how should our website structure should be presented. We currently have 2 website each with reference to particular countries (since each countries have different terms trades for our product(exporting used cars to different countries). Would it be better if i create a division within the product... For example:Used bus, used, sedans, used trucks, used buses etc. Wee also have 1 website dedicated for online auction that allows browsing of stocks. The other 2 website just talks about payment options, terms of trade for each countries and other company related data. Im having a hard time coordinating all these details since its all over the place...
Thanks.

Welcome to Webmasterworld. Every website finds a different solution to organizing its content, so I can't suggest a one-size-fits-all solution.

However, here's a link to one of the classic articles.

Theme Pyramids [searchengineworld.com]

Good luck

Lady_helix,

I just thought of another really good set of threads on information architecture. A while ago, Tedster wrote two great articles about Information Architecture. They're powerful rocketfuel.

Information Architecture for the Small Site Part 1 [webmasterworld.com]
Information Architecture for the Small Site Part 2 [webmasterworld.com]

Also, if you haven't read it, be sure to go read the granddaddy article on webmastering. Brett's 26 Steps to "Getting It" [webmasterworld.com]

These articles should give you a good start to thinking about your site's architecture. There are also more good articles in the WebmasterWorld library.
