GNU GPL Images

What are the rules?

Hi,
I'm working on developing a website about with card games, with some utilities built in to help you learn how to play.

I found many images of decks of cards out there that I'd like to use, all released under GNU GPL.

Question, if I use these images on my website, do I have to also publish the code behind my utilities and make them open source?

I belive if you use something that is gnu/gpl as part of your project you also need to be prepared to release source code. I knwo this applies to code, not to sure about use of images though?

It may be an idea to contact the author of the software you would like to use the images from.
