Do health related sites that offer advice, possibly from people who do not hold any degree's in medicine or the like fall into any legal issues?

is it simply enough to state that you should consult a doctor before attempting the following diet/excersie?

Any comments on this?

I'm currently writing copy that promtes an alternative health book. Even though we don't plan on writing anything misleading (in either the book or the promotional copy), we're protected by first amendment rights here regardless. Just put a disclaimer on your site that it's for general informational purposes only and not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice. I think you'll be fine in that case.

Doesn't "Dr." Phil gives crap medicial advice every day without a medicial degree... I cannot see how your site would be different.

You can get in deep do-do from the FDA regarding health content on your site IF you are selling something or promoting a product. I do a bit of copy writing for a health site and we've got to be really careful about what we say...
