How many of you have seen your materials scraped or ripped off entirely,
only to find a disgustingly self serving notice like this at the bottom?

FAIR USE NOTICE:

This site contains copyrighted material the use of which has not always been
specifically authorized by the copyright owner. We are making such material
available in our efforts to advance understanding of (yak yak) ..
We believe this constitutes a 'fair use' of any such copyrighted material
as provided for in section 107 of the US Copyright Law. In accordance
with Title 17 U.S.C. Section 107, the material on this site is distributed
without profit to those who have expressed a prior interest .. yak yak ..

Note the "without profit" bit .. then count the ads.
The notices themselves are virtual carbon copies, also obviously scraped.

It would be childs play for Google, Yahoo and others to trap these.

Not everyone uses a notice like this, but enough scrapers do
so its worthwhile for the SEs flag and derate them.

So doing would reward original content while discouraging a good blob of sleaze.
