Paris, 26 November 2004 - ICC, the world business organization, today launched BASCAP - Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy.

Mr Fourtou, CEO of Vivendi Universal, will form a group of up to 20 CEOs to help lead the initiative.

Ok, we may remember Vivendi as the group that bought up MP3.com, then obliterated it's archive.

We may also remember them for their record losses before the ousting of their former CEO, Jean-Marie Messier, who was later thrown in jail by French authorities [expat-village.com].

In fact, there's been a lot of shady doings in Vivendi's past, including an FTC Anti-Trust conviction [ftc.gov] to remember.

Now they're out to get into the anti-piracy and copyright lawsuit game in a very big, very international way.

Somehow, I really just don't find this good news.
