It has been a while that I was active here but this is still the best place to ask my stupid question.
Last year I did a total rebuild of one of my websites. Its just a lurking informative website, visitors can comment without registration. I even opened the forum topics for anonymous visitors just to get my forum started.. My new website is now online for about 2,5 week, the forum is still empty except the topics I started myself.
Now the fun thing: last week I had 7 visitors from my country who filled out the registration form.. my registration form is just like any other site behind a button: register.. But actually there is not any reason to register, except if you want to post a topic in the forum. None of the newly registered users posted a topic.. so then my question rise:
Why do people register on a website? (haha) Im sure they are not bots or spammers, they are just real people. I've searching here for the answer and searched the lovely useit dot com website but no answers.. only answer on the question how to get visitors to register.
Do I miss something? Do visitors want something that I'm not aware of? Is there any study about this?
