Ranking well in Youtube - how?

How do i get my videos to rank well in youtube, elements considered

Just wondering if youtube works in a similar way to google: serves results based on how many links a video has to it? What else does it take into account? How many views? How good its rating is? Or is it based purely on the written content next to it and its title and tags? Or all of the above?

I couldnt find an awful lot on it.

YouTube does not work like Google do. I can't say for sure, but linkpop don't seem to have any effect on YouTube rankings.

You will need to optimize your video (thumbnail, title, description, etc.).

You will need to get comments, ratings and views to get on page one.

To do this, you must have a video which goes viral (gets shared on Facebook, Twitter, etc.) "Will it Blend" is a good example of that, or you must have a professional team to "promote" your video. This process is very well described by Dan Ackerman Greenberg in this article: [techcrunch.com ]

You must do something outstanding, something that will create the buzz needed to boost your numbers. A tutorial, an out of the ordinary video, something that blows your audience, think about those. :)

Without doubt, the title and text plays an important part in the ranking. Make sure you get your keywords in there, without being spammy.

The two major factors to getting a youtube video to rank well

1) Keyword optimisation - video file name, title, description, tags etc

2) Number of views


Part 1 is pretty easy to do, getting lots of views for your video is the hard part, so video content will play a crucial role.
