Seed Database for dating site

I would like to buy a seed database for a U.S. dating site. Does anyone have any ideas on where to acquire? If anyone has any tips on building one from scratch, id love to here them.

No idea on where to look for that kind of data, unless you can find an unsuccessful site willing to sell some or all of their listings.

I'd guess one way to get going would be to offer free signups (assuming it's going to ba a paid business model). Emphasize the value, the limited free window, etc. Even then, having a base of data would be encouraging. Most people probably wouldn't want to be the only listing in a dating site.

Or offer a weekly prize give away to newly registered members.

Weekly prizes don't work, and if you are a paid site you have to change your config with your merchant account.

CD's of profiles exist, but if you're going to start your site that way, prepare to fail.

Acquiring a mid-sized site is a good way to go.

Don't forget to slap up a big "Beta" sign too.
