Amazon to Sue Over Fake Reviews

Amazon is getting heavy with its first ever lawsuit against fake reviews on its site.

I always look to see if it's a verified purchase, and even then, unless it's an objective review, I tend to ignore it, no matter what site it's on.

The suit alleges that the glowing product evaluations they provide deceive consumers and harm the sellers on Amazon’s site who don’t game the system. Amazon to Sue Over Fake Reviews [seattletimes.com]

“While small in number, these reviews threaten to undermine the trust that customers, and the vast majority of sellers and manufacturers, place in Amazon, thereby tarnishing Amazon’s brand,” according to the suit.

That was anyways suppose to happen someday.. I see a lot of people asking for amazon review on Craigslist all the time..

I thought they were threatening to clamp down on the fake reviews for dubious products. ("I thought my teenaged daughters were too old for the Nimbus 2000 toy, but...")
