Internet Explorer/Apache problems

Hello,

I have just finished installing:

Apache 1.3.29
php 4.3.4
and
MySQL 4.0.16

on my Windows XP Professional system.

I also have a DNS pointing to my IP address.

My problem is that it all works perfectly in every broswer but Internet Explorer 6.

I generally get a 504 Gateway Timeout error, and sometimes I get a "page not found" error. IfI go to the domain, the IP address, or http://localhost/ I still get the same error.

This all works perfectly in my alternative browser Opera.

This wouldn't really bother me if it was just on my computer, but it happens to all people I've asked running Internet Explorer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Are you on a corporate network and the other people you have asked are also on the same network?

If so, my first guess would be that Internet Explorer (on both your machine and your colleagues machines) is configured to use a proxy server; without the "Bypass proxy server for local addresses" option set.

Not on a corporate network at all, just right to the internet no proxys or routers or anything.

As for the people I've asked, some are on the same ISP as me, but others are on dial-up and DSL. But have the same problem with Internet Explorer.

Can you access it using Netscape?
