installation problems

HI

I'm brand new to this. tutorial which is great,

everything was working great until the php installation using www.webmasterstop.com/48.html

I'm having a hard time getting php to work when I get the part where he wants me to open the test file
[localhost...]
"I get 403 forbidden"

I checked my installation and I seem not to have missed anything

Some details
php version 5.1.4
apache version 2.2.2
MySQL version 5.0.22

any help or guidance is valued

are you installing on a linux machine?

i just did this friday.

use XAMPP, it will install evrything for you and give you a control panel to run it all from to boot

it took ten minutes and was easy as pie :)

I would have no clue how to change to linx or were to even start

Your in luck they have a version for XP

just do a google search for XAMPP

its very easy one step download and install

let me know if it works out
