My site has a forum, gallery, and a chat. I would estimate that at any given time there are at most 100 people accessing the site.
I've followed some advice on the web on how to optimize Apache and MySQL.
My problem is that sometimes during peak hours my server stops responding. I cannot access the site or any of its features through the browser, and I cannot ssh in to the server.
I asked my hosting admins to take a look at the problem and they suggested I contact a professional. Since I am not making any money off the site, I cannot afford 75/hour :)
For now, I reboot the server when it stops responding (the admin suggested I do this), and it works until the next day, when the problem of non-responsiveness comes back.
This is ugly and it causes lots of database corruption which I have to fix later.
Could you please recommend something? Is there any other information I can provide to make things clearer...
I would appreciate any help.
Thank you!
Kate
