Hi,

I'm new to the forums here. I have started to use the xampp 1.14.6 package. I really like the apache, mysql, etc...that it offers. My question is this: Is there a way for the apache server to be access from the public?

Here's my setup:
Computer 1 is connected to the internet via a cable modem.
Computer 2 is connected to computer 1 via Lan. Computer 2 has the apache server on it. I have no router because of the lack of funds. I am able to see the webpages on either machine, which is fine. But, if I want a family member who lives else where to view my web pages, can this be accomplished with my setup?

thanks...any help is appreciated...

Also, both machines are running xp pro w/sp2

Hi,

Also, I tried an experiment. I'm using the STL Port Forwarder program by SKYLARK technology. When I add the following Port: 80 192.168.0.2 80 TCP and I put my wan ip as such [mywanipaddyhere...] it worked. When I turn off or remove the line that I added in the STL prog, it does not work. So, the tunneling does work to a point. When I use the standard 127.0.0.1/directory/etc... or the LAN ip 192.168.0.2/directory/etc... it still works from my 1st computer.

I'm still in the process of figuring out if there is a way for my family to get access to my webpages via the [mywanipaddhere...]

any help is appreciated.

btw. I'm also using ZoneAlarm Pro w/ web filtering ver. 4.0.123.012 on both machines.

Have you bought a domain?

Has you ISP given you a fixed IP address?

If yes, you need your domain name registrar to point their DNS (domain nameservers) to your IP address. Your site should then be visible on the internet.

Steven,

Thanks, but I'm still confused on how to get my webpages seen up on the net.
