I have apache running on my own PC using the Server2Go application.

I created a rule for the NIS firewall allowing apache to access port 4001 but have run into an odd problem.

I have a whole ssi site running and it looks perfect, all includes are included. Click on one link. No problem.

click on second and I get

"the connection was refused when attempting to contact localhost:4001"

any ideas what's happening and how it can be resolved?

Rather than making a rule for NIS, I suggest you disable it or uninstall it completely, and then test again. Start in the simplest configuration, then add layers of complexity, in other words...

I did that and I am still getting the problem but now, only in FF. IE seems fine. I'm a bit stumped....

Hmm... Are you running on Windows XP?

If so, see Windows Knowledge Base article Programs that connect to IP addresses in the loopback address range may not work as expected [microsoft.com].
