Random Timeouts

Where to start looking for problems?

Hey everyone,

I am doing a Co-Lo hosting with my own webserver. The server itself is nothing special P2 400, 512mb ram, plus a few hard drives. The speed is fine and everything is working great with the server.

Lately I have been getting timeouts though. They are completely random and it usually just trying again works fine. I get 2 to 3 a day. I worry because I don't want users visiting my site to get timeouts.

Where can I start looking for a problem like this. It is random, not at peek times of the day or nothing. I don't think its the hosting company I have a Co-Lo with because I have another server there which is running fine. Although it is a P4 3.2 with a gig of ram.

Any suggestions or ideas?

The first places to look sre the server error logs and any available OS error logs.
