I have a domain where there used to be hundreds of subdomains set up--now I want to set up a 301 Permanent Redirect so that all of those subdomains redirect to the www subdomain on the site (the home page).

Basically, I need to get rid of all of those subdomains.

Can I set it up in the .htaccess file just like I would any other 301 redirect? If so, how do I do it?

There's an example of the code in message 2 of this recent thread [webmasterworld.com].
