Need help with htaccess code

I have some old urls from our old site design as follows:

http://www.example.com/archives/2006/08/crowd.html
http://www.example.com/archives/interviews/

I want all urls starting with http://www.example.com/archives/* to goto URL http://www.example.com/celeb-gossip

I have tried many options but they just don't work. Could anyone please give me the htaccess code for this condition? Thanks
